Levamid

LEVAMID is a powder preparation containing Niclosamide and Levamisole HCl. Niclosamide acts by blocking uptake of glucose and uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation process in mitochondria of cestodes at Krebs cycle. This action will lead to the accumulation of lactic acid, which then kill cestodes. Levamisole Hydrochloride acts as anthelmintic by blocking fumarate reductase and succinate oxidase in nematodes carbohydrate metabolism causing paralysis in worms which are then expelled.

COMPOSITION

Each caplet contains:

• - Niclosamide
• - Levamisole HCl
• - Excipients 

INDICATION

• - Eliminates cestodes (Raillietina sp., Davainea sp. and Hymenolepis sp.)
• - Eliminates larvae and adult stage of nematodes in:
  ✔ Gastrointestinal tract (Ascaridia sp., Heterakis sp., Capillaria sp.)
  ✔ Respiratory tract (Syngamus trachea)
  ✔ Eyes (Oxyspirura mansonii)

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

0.2 g per kg of body weight, mixed with feed and given within 2-4 hours. Give Levamid once. It may be readministered 1-2 months later
